“Can he
talk yet?”
“Yeah,
random words here and there…”
“Ohh so
cute! What can he say?”
“Umm,
usual things like Papa, Mommy, Mum mum…”
My voice
trails off at this point. Every. Single. Time. It’s not like Jayden can’t say
any more words than that, but my mind always turns blank trying to list out all
his verbal achievements. So frustrating! I feel like telling them to HOLD ON,
he knows way more than just that. But then I’d sound like an annoying
overachieving mother who likes to show off…
I know a
lot of mothers keep track of their children’s milestones all the time, some
almost religiously, but I’ve always been the go-with-the-flow,
learn-at-own-pace kind, so I really didn’t wanna get too worked up over Jayden’s
progress in any area.
Still. I
shall take the time to list out all the things he can say now, at 1year and
11months. Just so I can answer them questions better. XD
Papa.
Mommy. Mama (grandma). Yeye (grandpa). Kor kor (older brother). Di di (younger
brother). Baby.
Banana
(Nana!). Papaya (Papa!). Coconut (more like NAT!). Bread. Cake. Cheese (CITZ!).
Apple. Orange (with an American accent no less). Ice cream.
Cut. Sit
down. Walk. Shoe. Kai kai (go out). Play. Playground. Swimming. Water. Good. Cartoon.
Book.
Dog (wow
wow!). Cat (meow). Oink oink. Horse (neigh neigh). Moo moo. Starfish. Dolphin.
Whale. Seahorse.
And lately,
his first-ever three syllabus word… CHOCOLATE. It’s more like Chu-Ku-Let, now,
but boy can he tell you what he wants when he wants it.
Nowadays
he does repeat after you if you say one word at a time, while pointing at the
object. Sometimes. When he feels like it. =P
So this will be my default answer whenever I get asked that question again. This whole blog post. *nodds*
